ABOUT THE COLLECTION
A Living Collection
Where composition, performance, tradition, and instrumental identity meet.
Solistas develops contemporary solo repertoire for Latin American plucked-string instruments through close collaboration with performers, instrumental traditions, and the distinctive voice of each instrument. The works move between Latin American musical practices and freer contemporary, descriptive, and programmatic approaches. The collection also expands the solo space of instruments such as the cuatro and Colombian tiple, which are often heard within ensembles and accompaniment roles and have a smaller written solo repertoire than instruments such as guitar or piano. Alongside the guitar and future plucked-string voices, Solistas places them at the center of complete concert works.
“Each work explores the inherent character of its instrument while maintaining an honest and distinctive artistic voice.”
Germán Darío Pérez Salazar
Award-winning composer and leading voice in Colombian Andean music

THE NEXT VOLUME
New Work in Development
Solistas was conceived as a collection capable of growing through new works, instruments, performers, and musical perspectives.A new volume is now in development. Two works for solo guitar are already complete, including Tabiuno. Future works may continue expanding the instrumental scope of the collection while preserving its central idea: creating substantial solo repertoire shaped by the character, history, and possibilities of each instrument.
